Tolerance (Duldung)

Tolerance (Duldung)

A tolerance (Duldung) classification will be issued by the Foreign Nationals Office (Ausländerbehörde) if it is currently impossible to deport an individual (suspension of deportation).

A tolerance (Duldung) classification is always temporary – as a rule it is valid for a maximum of 6 months (exceptions include the apprenticeship and employment tolerance (Ausbildungs- und Beschäftigungsduldung). The Foreign Nationals Office will extend these classifications as long as an individual cannot be deported.

On the website of the Flüchtlingsrat Thüringen e.V. you will find an information flyer on this subject. It explains the meaning of the term tolerance (Duldung) and in which cases this classification will be granted. The brochure also contains information on education and job market access with a tolerance (Duldung) classification.
