SprInt - Qualification as a language and integration mediator in education, health and social services

Migrants often feel that they are not properly understood by authorities, schools, medical facilities and social services. Professionals invest more time than usual in counselling or treating migrants. Nevertheless, they are unsure whether all questions have been clarified. This results in mistrust and dissatisfaction on both sides and avoidable additional costs for the facilities. This is where professional language and integration mediators (SprInt) can help.

The future language and integration mediators are taught in a total of 9 learning fields. They acquire knowledge of the fundamentals and structures of the education, health and social services sectors as well as the theory and practice of interpreting, migration and participation, reflective skills, social skills and communication skills. The theoretical lessons are consolidated in 2 work placement phases.

After successfully completing the qualification, the SprInt can work in educational, social and healthcare organisations or as self-employed interpreters. On request, they can be accepted into the Thuringian Placement Service and placed through it.

Participation in the training programme is free of charge and any travel costs incurred are reimbursed.

The current project ends on 15 July 2025 and the new course is expected to start in September 2025.
